Identifying Information

The unique identifying information for profiles are edited under Personal Details. All information in the Personal Details section populates in the profile page header.

NetID

This field is for inputting the Texas A&M NetID of the person whose profile you are building.

This field provides the architecture for future enhancements to the Aggie UX WordPress theme, but does not currently do anything. In a future release, we may be able to pull information into a profile from an external source by leveraging this field.

Name

The name associated with a profile populates the main (H1) heading, breadcrumbs and URL for the profile.

By default, Aggie UX profiles have names broken into parts to enable the ability to reliably search, sort by or use only distinct parts of the name (e.g., last name, first name).

You can choose to enter a full name rather than its parts by checking the Use Full Name field. However, this will impact the reliability of search, sort and other functionalities.

Profile Photo

The profile photo will be displayed next to the person’s name in the profile page header.

We recommend linking to square photos; CSS will automatically crop them to circles.

To add a profile photo, select Set profile photo and either select an existing image from the Media Library or upload a new one.

Areas of Expertise

In Aggie UX, areas of expertise is a way to programmatically group people with related professional or academic specialties. Areas of expertise generates tags on profiles that can be clicked to view a filtered view of the directory that shows all people who share that expertise.

Aggie UX provides the ability to sort areas of expertise into two different categories: professional or academic. You can manage all of the available areas of expertise by going to Directory > Professional Specialties or Directory > Academic Specialties, respectively.

Both types of expertise will be displayed as tags in the profile page header beneath the heading “Areas of Expertise.” You can change the heading that goes over this section in the Directory Options.
