Directory Settings

Configure the directory on your site in the manner that best suits your needs. All settings will apply to all profiles on your site.

Click Update to apply any changes to your directory settings to your site.

Unit

You can choose to add a unit to append to all profiles on your site on the Options tab. If filled out, it will display beneath the job title on profile pages.

Institution

You can choose to add an institution to append to all profiles on your site on the Options tab. If filled out, it will display beneath the job title on profile pages and directory cards.

Multiple Titles Display

Choose how you would like to display job titles on profiles for people with multiple job titles on the Options tab. By default, only the first title will be displayed on a person’s profile.

Display options include:

  • Only display the user’s primary title. Any additional titles for that user will be displayed in context where appropriate. (e.g.: On a group page or in a group contact card list, the user’s title in that group will be displayed)
  • List all user’s titles on their profile page, separated by comma. For sites where users have many roles, this can become cluttered.
  • List all user’s titles on their profile page, and up to their first two on their general directory contact card. For sites where users have many roles, this can become cluttered.

Location

Optionally set any portion of a physical address as the default for all profiles on your site on the Location tab. This address can be overridden on a profile-by-profile basis.

Sections

You can choose which sections are available to be filled out on profiles on the Sections tab.

All sections listed in the Sections Enabled field will display in the order listed on profiles that fill that information out.

You can additionally choose to override the default labels and headings on profiles for various sections. The labels for these sections will apply to all profiles on your site.

For example, the default label that displays over the professional and academic specialties is “Areas of Expertise.” You can choose to change this label on all profiles to something else — e.g., “Areas of Focus” or “Specialties.”

Archive

You can customize your directory page under the Archive section. Available customizations include:

  • Archive Page Title: Choose the H1 page heading and breadcrumb link for your directory page. The default value is “People.”
  • Archive Intro: Optionally include an introductory paragraph below the H1 heading on your directory.
  • Featured Image: Optionally choose an image to use in your directory’s page header.
  • Social Share Image: Optionally choose an image to show as a preview image when sharing links on social media and other platforms.

Click Update to apply any changes to your directory archive page to your site.

Search and Filters

You can enable search and filters on your directory in the Search section.

Search

To enable search on your directory, toggle on the Enable Archive Search toggle.

Filters

You can add one or more filters to display across the top of your directory. This is especially useful for large directories with multiple directory groups or roles.

You can control the overarching heading that displays over all filters in the Heading field.

How to add a Filter

  1. Under Filter Sections, click Add Section
  2. Add a filter field by clicking Add Field. This is what populates the dropdown field filter.
  3. For each filter field, fill out the following:
    1. Field Label: Choose the text that will display above the dropdown filter (e.g., “Filter by Team”)
    2. Source: Choose the data source to use to power this filter.
      1. Choose Terms to populate a filter with professional or academic specialties.
      2. Choose Directory Groups to populate a filter with directory groups.
    3. Terms: Choose which of the available options appear as an option in the dropdown filter. By default, all terms for the selected taxonomy will display in the dropdown in alphabetical order. To exclude a term from filter options, check “Exclude from Search Filters” on the term’s details editor.
      1. Taxonomy: When “Terms” is selected as the Source, you can select which taxonomy you would like to populate the filter: Roles, Academic Specialties, or Professional Specialties.
      2. Directory Groups: When “Directory Groups” is selected as the Source, you can select one or more directory groups to display in this filter’s dropdown list.
