Choosing a Media Type
Learn when best to use images, icons or no media at all.

Many components, especially card groups, have multiple media options.
Images
Images are best when they are high-quality, owned images. These are typically photographs taken by Texas A&M photographers or contracted vendors. Images can also be okay when they are high-quality stock imagery that is appropriate with your content.
The Texas A&M brand guide has additional recommendations for styles of photography to use to best represent our brand.
We also provide Photoshop templates to help you when cropping and resizing images for use in Aggie UX.
Icons
Icons can be a helpful way to visually distinguish ideas. They can be especially useful when you have an idea that has a clear symbol associated with it that may not have images readily available.
Aggie UX has a built in library of icons available to choose from. If there is an icon that is missing that would be helpful for you, you can submit a request to have it added to Aggie UX and we will consider adding it when capacity allows.

It’s okay to not use media if you don’t have appropriate images or Aggie UX doesn’t have icons that make sense with your content! It’s better to have no media than to confuse users with media that doesn’t make sense with the content in a component.
