In Cascade Aggie UX sites, access permissions are determined based on role. Each role is assigned to a group, enabling multiple users to have the same type of access. Texas A&M University Security Control AC-6 requires that we follow the principle of least privilege. Users may only have the access necessary to accomplish assigned tasks.

Available Roles

Site Admin

Site admins have the highest level of access to your site. They are able to access and create content on all parts of your site in Cascade. Additionally, site admins can create, assign, review and bypass workflows.

Admin-level access should be given out sparingly to site owners who have both the technical ability to administer a Cascade side and a business need for site admin access to do their job.

Publisher

Publishers are the middle level of access. They can create all Aggie UX page types and assets, including navigation. Publishers cannot access Cascade’s native content types in the “Add Content > Default” drop down. The are also not able to modify specialized functionality built into the site, such as being able to write redirects or invalidate cache, or access files and assets required to make the template work. Publishers can review and bypass workflows if those are used on the site.

Publisher-level access is ideal for most full-time employees who are authorized to make content changes on the site.

Contributor

Contributors have the lowest level of access to your site. While contributors can create some page types, they cannot make home pages, navigation changes, or any of the specialized functionality built into the site, such as being able to write redirects or invalidate cache. Contributors must complete workflows if they are used on the site.

Contributor-level access is ideal for student workers or full-time employees who don’t need access to make site-wide changes.
