What is a publishing destination?

Publishing destinations are locations on the world wide web where you can publish your website. They are set up by your site administrator — either the central MarComm web team or Technology Services.

We recommend each site has two publishing destinations:

  • A test / development site: a site with an obscure URL that is not indexed by search engines
  • A production / live site: a site with an easy-to-remember URL findable through search engines

How to Request New Publishing Destinations

Publishing destinations are already set up for existing Cascade websites.

For new websites, the central MarComm web team will set up the development and production publish destinations after you request a new Aggie UX site.

The production destination will be disabled until the launch day for the new website.

At least 2 weeks before your desired launch date, submit the Aggie UX Site Launch request form. The central Web Team will work with you and Technology Services to plan for domain name changes, to enable the production destination and to publish the new website.
