Site Headers with Lockup Identities
Learn about the site header and navigation option designed for units with a Texas A&M unit identity.

In the “lockup identity” site header layout variations, the site identity is a coded Texas A&M unit identity and linked to the home page of a given site. A search bar will display out to the right-hand side across from the site name.
Site headers using the “lockup identity” layout can add an additional link in the utility navigation back to their parent organization behind the “back to Texas A&M University” link.
Your site name must be the same as the text in an approved Texas A&M unit identity to use the “lockup identity” site header layout option. For example, the primary site for an official college, department, or division will be able to use their unit identity for their site name. However, if they had a separate site for a specific program hosted by that unit, the program site would need to use the “text identity” site header layout.
Use this site header layout when a website’s site identity matches an approved Texas A&M unit identity. This is typical for a unit’s primary site, such as it.tamu.edu for Technology Services or artsci.tamu.edu for the College of Arts and Sciences.
This header layout is commonly used for college, division, department, and branch campus sites.
Primary Navigation
The primary navigation lies below the site identity and unit logo. We recommend not having more than 6-8 navigation items in the primary nav.
Nav items can be mega menus, dropdowns or buttons that go directly to a page.
On mobile, all options in the primary navigation will be accessible behind the “menu” button.
Search Option
When using this variation, the site-wide search can be placed on the right hand side, across from the site identity and above the primary navigation items.
Utility Nav
When using this variation, the utility nav will have a link to Texas A&M University (www.tamu.edu) in left corner, and may choose to have any of the following:
- CTA links
- Persona dropdown
- Quicklinks dropdown
