In the “text identity” site header layout variations, the site identity is written in plain text and linked to the home page of this site.

The “text identity” layout will have one of the following out to the right-hand side across from the site name:

  • An approved Texas A&M unit identity, linked to that unit’s website
  • The Texas A&M University logo, linked to www.tamu.edu

Use this site header layout when a website needs a clear site identity but does not have an approved Texas A&M University or unit logo that matches the site name.

This approach allows the site to maintain brand alignment while clearly communicating the purpose of the site through a text-based site name in the header.

This header layout is commonly used for program, initiative, campaign, center, lab, event and news sites.

Site Identity / Unit Identity

The site identity is typed out in text and linked to the home page of this site.

Primary Navigation

The primary navigation lies below the site identity and unit logo. We recommend not having more than 6-8 navigation items in the primary nav.

Nav items can be mega menus, dropdowns or buttons that go directly to a page.

On mobile, all options in the primary navigation will be accessible behind the “menu” button.

Search Option

When using this variation, the site-wide search can be placed in the utility navigation.

Utility Nav

When using this variation, the utility nav will have a link to Texas A&M University (www.tamu.edu) in left corner and may choose to have any of the following:

  • CTA links
  • Persona dropdown
  • Quicklinks dropdown

It will also house the sitewide search.
